In a Nutshell – 2016

2016. What a year!

It’s been a funny old year.  Mostly because this year has seen some crazy highs and equally crazy lows, both for us and for the world.

However, I’m an optimist. I definitely like to view my glass as half full and so I wanted to round up our year with all the good things that have happened. Our 2016 in a Nutshell.

At the start of the year I signed up for a free, year long photography course ‘A Year With My Camera’ and I’ve loved every lesson and really learning to play and use my camera to it’s full potential.

One of my biggest highlights in January was our snowy day, we spent a good hour or so playing and wandering around in the thick white stuff.

My oldest friend, Gemma asked me to be her bridesmaid next year. I’ve only ever been a bridesmaid once before as a child for my grandma so I’m very excited. It’s also been so much fun dress shopping with her and her other bridesmaids.

I also got to spend an evening at the Titanic Spa with my best friend, Ashleigh. We had such an amazing time relaxing with no other distractions for a whole day and night. It was heavenly.

Sandsend. This was most definitely one of the top highlights of our year. We spent Mother’s Day in Sandsend with my parents and grandparents and it was just amazing. We had the best time and it’s turned out to be the last time we will go away with my grandad who sadly passed away at the end of the year.  It’s somewhere we are hoping to go back to soon.

In March Luca found his first best friend, Rowan.  It has obviously been a progressive thing but March really saw the friendship solidified at a party they went to. The rest as they say, is history.

The Tour de Yorkshire went past my dads yard so we went to cheer and wave the cyclists on before heading to a little festival held next door at Lotherton Hall.

And it was my birthday.

Another top highlight from the year was learning to snowboard. We learnt as a big group of friends and it was so so much fun. Painful but fun. We haven’t been recently so need to go get some more practice in.

Wonderful Chaos was born. I migrated my old blog across to this new domain and it’s been the best decision ever. I’ve fallen in love with my blog all over again.

Luca turned 4 in July and we had a big party for him with all his friends from nursery.

We also visited the north east coast with Ashleigh which is always the best fun. We’ve never been and had a rubbish time.

Luca started horse riding lessons too. I can’t wait to be able to ride together.

We took two weeks off as a family and had the best time. We had a riverside picnic, hired a boat and sailed down the river in York and visited north east coast again.

Luca started big school! Talk about being an emotional rollercoaster.  But he loves it.

Another massive highlight, and not just of the year but of life so far. We reserved our plot and our the builders started to be build our house.

We also had such a fun afternoon picking pumpkins for Halloween.

Christmas.  It’s been super fun this year as Luca has really really got into the whole magic of it. His excitement levels were through the roof and the whole run up was just as good as the day itself. Mostly the Hidden Christmas market.

They are our highlights from the year. Despite the craziness of 2016, Brexit & Donald Trump ring any bells, it hasn’t been that bad a year for us.  We have definitely had some good times too. I’m just hoping there is lots less crap in 2017 and lots, lots more of the good stuff.
