I’m crazy about Christmas. I swear I was an Elf in a previous life. I absolutely love everything about Christmas and eagerly await it’s arrival every year. So when the lovely Lauren from Dilan and Me tagged us in The Christmas Tag I knew I was going to take part.
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
I’m not really sure what mine is, there are so many good ones. I love Home Alone and The Grinch though.
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Yes, I think I’ve had at least two. I remember one year we weren’t supposed to get any snow and when we woke up on Christmas Day there was loads outside. That was a very special one as it was such a surprise. Living up North has its advantages.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
We always go to my mums for Christmas. We open presents at home first and then drive over to my mums. The whole family gather there and she feeds about 12 of us usually. We all stay there Christmas Day night too so all have breakfast together on Boxing Day too.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
The Pogues – Fairytale of New York
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
No, but I do get Luca new pj’s for Christmas Eve.
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Doner and Blitzen. Is that all of them? Oh and Rudolph of course.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Real. Always real. You can’t beat the smell and also we have a house rabbit so it needs to be safely edible for her too.
What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
I don’t think I really have one. I love the abundance of boxes of chocolates though.
Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts?
Giving. I love shopping for the perfect present for the people I love and seeing them open them. I think I’m quite a good gift giver although you’d have to ask the people I buy for.
What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
We went to New York just before Christmas when I was in college. Before we went I’d fallen in love with a car I’d seen near campus and begged my dad to go and look at it. He took me to see it and told me it was a complete wreck and not worth a penny. When we got back from holiday there was a letter waiting for me. It was the owners documentation for the car. My first ever car, a Ford Capri that’s older than me. I still love it.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Easy, Lapland. Like I said I love Christmas and would love to be able to take Luca to see the real Santa. Go on a husky sled and search for the northern lights.
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I love buying gift wrap and matching bows etc but I’m absolutely crap at wrapping. Ant wraps them beautifully and I write gift tags.
Most memorable Christmas moment?
Seeing Luca’s face last year as he opened the lounge door to see if Santa had been. Christmas is so much more magical as a parent.
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
I really can’t remember realising Santa wasn’t real. A little bit of me really still hopes he is real.
What makes the holidays special for you?
Family. We all gather at Christmas and make a real fuss of each other. Our Christmas is always a huge affair and we spend all day together, into the early hours of the morning before having breakfast together on Boxing Day.
I know there are only a few days to go now until Christmas but if you’d like to take part please do and share your posts with me.
