There are only a few days left of 2016 and so it’s time to reflect on my to-do list and see what I actually managed to do this year. If your interested in my reasoning for the things I chose for my to-do list for 2016 you can see that here. Otherwise I’m just going to go through each item and see where I got with it.
1. Go on the Harry Potter Studio tour.
Not done. Still want to go.
2. Learn to snowboard.
Done. In May we started our lessons and passed with flying colours. It’s been a lifelong dream and so it’s the best feeling ever knowing I’ve actually achieved it.
3. Have regular date nights with my husband.
We started off well with this and then it slowly fizzled out. We both have really busy work schedules and Ant works funny shift patterns so we don’t ever really have a regular slot for a date night and so eventually we just forget to plan them. Rubbish excuse I know.
4. Apply for a Master’s degree.
Oh I wish! I’m still determined to get my masters in ABA but as of yet the money to fund it just isn’t there.
5. Buy a house.
Yes! We have yet to finalize and exchange contracts but this should happen early in the new year. Eek! I’m so very excited.
6. Blog more.
In June I bought my domain and went self hosted and since then my mojo is well and truly back.
7. Finish Luca’s patchwork quilt.
I’m absolutely no further with this than I was at the start of the year. I’m hoping when we move I’ll get my sewing machine out lots more as I will have much more space to do it. I do want to finish this as I think it will be a lovely keepsake once it’s done. Plus if I don’t I just cut all his baby clothes up for nothing.
8. Improve my photography skills.
At the start of the year I signed up to a free year-long photography course and it’s been brilliant. I’ve also done a few more photography walks with the ever so lovely Sarah Mason. I got to the point where I had outgrown my kit lens too and we feeling really disheartened that I could get the shots I wanted as I didn’t have the right equipment. I must have been good this year though as Santa very kindly brought me a new lens. Eek!
9. Make plans for baby number two.
No plans as such. But the house is happening which means once we actually move into it our biggest hurdle of space will be gone. It will just be making sure I have enough money set to one side then.
10. Spend an evening every week doing something for myself.
Hahahahaha! Yeah right. Just reading this makes me chuckle.
So there you have it. 4 of them were definitely crossed off the list and accomplished. Some I started and never fully seen all the way through and other just never even came close to fruition. But that’s the beauty of a to-do list rather than resolutions. I don’t feel like I’ve failed at all and the fact that I’ve crossed some off my list means I now have room for more things to accomplish and set my mind to.
Now I just have to write next years. Hmmm?
